Hit and Run Leads to DUI Arrest 
On July 16th, just after 9 p.m., a citizen called in to report a wrong way driver in the area of Alamo Street and Sycamore Drive. Officers searched the area but were unable to find the described SUV. A short time later, an off-duty police officer saw the same vehicle crash into another car in the area of Cochran Street and Sycamore Drive.
When on-duty police officers arrived to investigate the accident, the driver of the vehicle drove away. The driver was later identified as 57 year-old Wendy Hineson. Hineson eventually pulled over in the 2800 block of Cochran Street. However, Hineson remained uncooperative and officers struggled to safely take her into custody.
The Simi Valley Police Department Traffic Unit assumed the investigation of the collision. Based on that investigation, Hineson was arrested and booked into the Ventura County Jail for the following charges:
DUI drugs, Hit and Run, Unlicensed Driver, and possession of methamphetamine.
