Janesville Police would like the community to be aware of rental scams on Craigslist. There are several listings on Craigslist for rentals that are actual for sale in MLS. The suspects post the rental ad and use a made up email for contact. The suspect tell people they are currently out of town for work or some other story and tell people to go to the house, walk around the residence, and look in windows. They tell the potential renters to send them money if they like the house and once they get the money they will send the keys to them. Never send money to anyone for a rental agreement without meeting the landlord in person at the residence and looking through the home with the landlord.
