PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release Monday July 16, 2018
Issued By:
Sergeant Lance Novello, Petaluma PD, (707) 778-4372, [email protected]
Incident: DUI Arrest
Additional: 23152(a) VC, 23152(b) VC
Report Number: 18-3266
Occurred Date: July 15, 2018
Occurred Time: 10:26 PM
Location: 400 Block of Washington Street, Petaluma
Suspect(s): Cynthia Lorenz, a 63 year old Petaluma resident
Petaluma PD officers were dispatched to citizen report of a possible DUI driver. The driver was described as swerving and traveling well under the posted speed limit. The driver’s license plate was also provided. Officers located the matching vehicle, which was stopped in a gas station, and observed the suspected driver, who displayed obvious signs of intoxication while attempting to pump gas.
Officers contacted Cynthia Lorenz and initiated a DUI investigation. Based on her poor performance during field sobriety tests, she was arrested for DUI. A subsequent test revealed her blood alcohol content was just under three times the legal California limit of .08%. She was booked into the Sonoma County Jail.
DUI continues to plague California roadways and Petaluma PD strongly encourages the use of public transportation, taxis, friends, family, or ride sharing companies, such as Uber or Lyft, if drinking is in the plans. DUI is very expensive and DMV will suspend driving privileges for up to one year. Bottom line: do not drink and drive.
