News Story - Subject Arrested in Oak Park School Threats

Nature of Incident: Suspect Arrested for Making Threats to the Oak Park School District Report Number: 18-107186 Location: Oak Park, CA Date & Time: July 10, 2018 / 1200 hours Unit(s) Responsible: East County Investigations Bureau (S)uspects, (V)ictims, (P)arty, (D)ecedent City of Residence Age Morton Green Agoura Hills 74 Narrative: Man arrested for online threats to Oak Park High School. On July 10, 2018, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office received information that there was a potential threat posted on Facebook against Oak Park High School. The threat was posted on Morton Green’s public Facebook page. According to the post, Green felt Oak Park High School staff was responsible for his recent personal problems. Due to the threat Green posted, the Oak Park Unified School District cancelled school activities on July 11, 2018. Green’s post constituted criminal threats in violation of 422 PC, a felony. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Green. Detectives learned Green was in Laughlin, Nevada. Investigators from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Las Vegas Metro Police Department located and arrested Green for the warrant. Green was booked into custody at the Tucker Holding Facility in Laughlin, Nevada awaiting extradition proceedings to California. Green’s bail is set at $100,000. The Oak Park Unified School District notified parents and staff to resume normal activities on July 12, 2018.
