A person died in a work site accident on Middlefield Road this morning.
On Thursday, July 12, 2018 at about 8:47 a.m., a sergeant on patrol on the 2400 block of Middlefield Road was flagged down by a member of construction crew and told that an accident had just occurred at a nearby work site.
The sergeant immediately went to assist the male victim at the work site which was located in a private parking lot. Additional officers along with personnel from the Palo Alto Fire Department arrived at the scene within minutes to render medical aid, but the victim had already succumbed to his injuries. Middlefield Road was closed for several hours between Oregon Expressway and Marion Avenue. All lanes reopened at around 12:40 p.m.
The investigation is being handled by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The Palo Alto Police Department is cooperating with the OSHA investigation, but will not be releasing any additional information concerning the incident.
