Assault with a Deadly Weapon Suspect Captured
On 07/11/18, at approximately 1:58 p.m., a Simi Valley Police Detective along with other Detectives assigned to the Ventura County Auto Theft Task Force (VENCAT) received information that Lawrence Huhne was in the City of Oxnard. The Detectives observed Huhne pumping gas into a stolen vehicle (a white 2015 Toyota Scion FR-S, 2-Door Coupe) in the 1400 block of Channel Islands Boulevard. When the Detectives attempted to detain Huhne, he attempted to flee the area and was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit. Huhne was arrested for being in possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Delaying a Peace Officer for the events that occurred during today’s contact. It should be noted the stolen vehicle Huhne was in possession of today is not the same vehicle he utilized to deliberately crash into another vehicle on 07/08/18.
After Huhne was arrested, he was interviewed by a Simi Valley Police Department Major Crimes Detective regarding the incident that occurred on 07/08/18. As a result of the interview, the Detectives were able to recover the stolen vehicle (a silver 2009 Toyota Camry) involved in that incident in Newbury Park.
After Huhne was interviewed, he was booked at the Ventura County Main Jail on the following charges: 10851(a) VC-Stolen Vehicle, 148(a) (1) PC-Delay, Obstruct, or Resist a Police Officer, 245(a)(1) PC-Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and several outstanding felony warrants.
