Large Fight Leads to Multiple Arrests, Injuries
Chief Tim Lentz announces that at approximately 7:35 PM last night (July 10th), the Covington Police Department responded to multiple reports of a large fight in front of the ISTOP Grocery in the 1300 block of N Columbia St. Responding officers were confronted with a large crowd involved in multiple altercations. With assistance from the Louisiana State Police and St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, the crowd was dispersed and the scene brought under control at approximately 9:20 PM. As a result of the incident, three people were transported to area hospitals, two with minor injuries and one with multiple stab wounds. Six people were arrested, including one juvenile. One firearm and shell casings were recovered at the scene. Additional charges are pending, and warrants are being sought for numerous others. The investigation into this incident is ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.
