UPDATE:
Early indications are that the incident stemmed from a GA Power sub-station feeding power into the city. Marietta Electric has re-routed power away from the damaged station and most customers have electricity again. Crews are still on the scene working to make permanent repairs.
Special thanks to all the GA Power and Marietta Electric employees who rushed in to make the quick repairs! The original incident occurred at 3:54 AM. Most customers had power restored by 6:45 AM.
Significant power outage has occurred in the area of Marietta Board of Light and Water (North Marietta Pkwy at Fairground St). Power out in the immediate area. Rough outage area is inside the Marietta Parkway "loop" WEST of Fairground Street.
Several major intersections are without power.
Marietta Power is aware of the situation and has staff on scene working on the repairs.
REMEMBER, if you approach an intersection and the traffic signal has no power you must treat it as a (4) way stop.
It may be at least a few hours before power restoration can begin.
Expect traffic delays. Please avoid the outage area if possible.
