On 7/08/18 at about 3 pm, the Simi Valley Police Department received a 9-1-1 call regarding a vehicle colliding with a pedestrian near the area of Hartley Avenue and Hollister Street. However, upon the arrival of the SVPD, it was discovered the collision had been intentional and the suspect had fled the scene.

The investigation revealed the suspect, 40 year old transient Lawrence Huhne, deliberately drove a vehicle into another vehicle the adult victim was exiting as he parked along the street. The victim and Huhne are known to each other and despite being pinned in the doorway of his vehicle, the victim sustained minor injuries due to his own vehicle's door slightly protecting him.

Upon hearing the commotion, local neighbors called the Simi Valley Police and provided a vehicle description and partial license plate number as Huhne fled the scene. Further investigation revealed the vehicle Huhne was driving (a silver 2009 Toyota Camry, license plate 6FGA899) was recently stolen out of Thousand Oaks.

Lawrence Huhne is well-known to law enforcement as he was recently involved in a vehicle pursuit with the Ventura County Sheriff's Office while driving a different stolen vehicle. Furthermore, several months back Huhne was involved in an additional vehicle pursuit with the Simi Valley Police Department while driving yet another stolen vehicle. In that case, Huhne crashed the stolen vehicle, fled on foot, and was apprehended the next day. As a result, Huhne has several outstanding felony warrants for his arrest in addition the to the fresh charge of 245(a)(1) PC- Assault with a Deadly Weapon other than a Firearm.

Huhne is a transient and is known to frequent locations all over Ventura County. The Simi Valley Police Department is asking anyone with any information as to Huhne's whereabouts to contact the Simi Valley Police Department immediately at 805-583-6950. Last seen driving a stolen 2009 Silver or Grey Toyota Camry with four doors. License plate of 6FGA899/Ca. The vehicle will likely have front end collision damage.
