Police Arrest Man for North Cape May Graffiti Incidents

Lower Township police arrested a local man after a two week long investigation of approximately fifty incidents of graffiti.  Thomas Hale, of Winslow Ave., North Cape May, was arrested on Friday July 6th, 2018 after detectives and patrol officers from the Lower Township Police department executed a court authorized search warrant on his residence.
As a result of the Search warrant Thomas Hale, a 44 year old white male, was charged with Criminal Mischief 2C:17-3A(1), 3rd degree (For Spray Painting Township Property), Possession of Heroin 2C:35-10a(1)  3rd degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 2C:36-6 Disorderly Persons Offenses, Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe 2C:36-6 Disorderly Persons Offenses, and Possession of 10 or More Marijuana Plants 2C:35-5b(10)(b) 2nd degree on a warrant that was issued by Judge Thomas Hillegass.  After being processed he was transported to the Cape May County Correctional Center, where he awaits further adjudication.
Police received the first complaints of Criminal Mischief about two weeks ago. All of the graffiti was done in the North Cape May section of the Township. Many businesses were targeted by the subject, as well as municipal traffic signs and utility company property. The amount of damage from these incidents is currently several thousand dollars.
