Deputies Conduct Safety and Security Check in Orange Groves of Loma Linda

SUMMARY: On Sunday, 07/08/2018, deputies conducted a safety and security check of the orange groves located on Redlands Boulevard in the City of Loma Linda. The orange groves are identified as Loma Linda Redevelopment Property managed by the City of Loma Linda. Ten transient camps and several persons were found there, along with piled trash, bicycle parts, and miscellaneous metal components. There were also signs of trees and branches being burned throughout the orange groves. Several arrests were made for outstanding warrants, possession of drugs, and drug paraphernalia. In an effort to assist the transients in the orange groves, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Homeless Outreach Proactive Enforcement Team has made several attempts to offer services such as, drug treatment, behavioral health, veteran services, and available housing programs. All persons who remained in the orange groves refused services offered by the H.O.P.E. Team.
