Kenyon Sanders, 34, arrested for attempted murder in today's stabbing at gas station on Lagoon Road, Hilton Head.

At approximately 1:00 p.m. today, a stabbing incident occurred inside of the Kangeroo Express gas station/convenience store located at 2 Lagoon Road, Hilton Head Island. Sheriff' s Office deputies responded and investigated the incident. It was reported that following a dispute inside the store, a male subject—identified as 34-year-old Kenyon Sanders of Estill—stabbed a male customer with a knife and then took the wounded man's wallet from the counter. Sanders fled from the store and rode away on a beach cruiser type bicycle. 

The male stabbing victim was initially transported to the Hilton Head Regional Medical Center by Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue paramedics for treatment. He has since been flown to Savannah Memorial for more intensive treatment. There is no update on stabbing victim's condition as of this time. 

This afternoon, Sheriff's Office investigators obtained warrants for the arrest of Kenyon Sanders for Attempted Murder, Possession of a Weapon in the Commission of a Violent Crime and Petit Larceny. Aware of the incident, security officers from Coastal Security were patrolling the area of Coligy Plaza and spotted Sanders a short time ago. Security officers notified Sheriff's Office deputies, who converged on Sanders and arrested him without incident. During a search of Sanders, deputies recovered a knife.
