Traffic Advisory: Fri. July 20, 2018 for the 12th Annual Soldier Ride in Babylon Township.

WOUNDED WARRIOR SOLDIER RIDE
FRIDAY, JULY 20, 2018
8:00 am – Noon
Beginning: 200 East Sunrise Highway, Lindenhurst (Town Hall)
Ending: Overlook Beach, Babylon

 
The Soldier Ride is a Wounded Warrior Project initiative that provides adaptive cycling opportunities across the country to help wounded service members and veterans to use cycling and the bonds of service to overcome physical, mental, or emotional wounds. New York is unique, as the community is brought together to ride with the warriors for the twelfth year in the Islip/Babylon area.
The event begins at Babylon Town Hall 200 East Sunrise Highway, Lindenhurst- with registration at 7:00 a.m.; opening ceremonies at 9:00 a.m. and the ride commences at 9:30 a.m. The cyclists will be escorted by police in a rolling escort, with warriors in the lead and proceed in the following direction: W/B Sunrise Highway to S/B Wellwood Ave to W/B Hoffman Ave. (name changes to Oak St.) to S/B Rt. 110 to E/B Montauk Highway to N/B Wellwood Ave. to E/B Hoffman Ave. to S/B Little East Neck Rd. to E/B Montauk Hwy (rest area at St. John’s Catholic High School) to S/B Robert Moses Causeway to W/B Ocean Pkwy to Overlook Beach. The road will be completely shut down to cars from the Robert Moses Causeway to Ocean Parkway to Overlook Beach.
There will be two water stops: 1.) Lindenhurst Middle School, 350 South Wellwood Ave., and 2.) St. John the Baptist High School 1170 Montauk Highway, West Islip.
Motorists are advised to expect delays in these areas and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
