INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), Chief Bryan Roach, Mayor Joe Hogsett, and the IMPD Civilian Merit Board are pleased to announce the merit promotions of 44 officers. These officers are excited to join the ranks of supervision.
This afternoon, July 6, 2018, these officers were sworn into their new roles at the City-County Building’s Public Assembly Room.
“This is an exciting time for the IMPD and City of Indianapolis,” stated Chief Roach, “These newly promoted men and women are taking an important step in their careers. They are ready to serve in their new positions and continue to build upon the relationships they have created in the community and within the department. Congratulations to these new supervisors.”

Of the 44 promoted, there were 6 promoted to captain which was made up of 16% minorities. 11 were promoted to lieutenant, which was made up of 36% minorities. 27 were promoted to sergeant, which was made up of 30% minorities. Upon their promotion, these new supervisors will serve in various roles within the department.
