On July 4, 2018, at approximately 2:45 a.m., Simi Valley Police Department officers were conducting an investigation at the Simi Valley Hospital. While at the hospital, a patient unrelated to their investigation assaulted a nurse in the Emergency Room. One of the officers approached the patient in order to calm him down and the patient struck the officer during the contact. The officers subdued the suspect, who was later identified as 28-year-old, Ivan Sanchez, from Simi Valley. Sanchez was arrested for the following charges: Battery on a Nurse, Battery on a Peace Officer Causing Injury, and Resisting Arrest. Sanchez was booked at Ventura County Main Jail.
