Narrative:
On June 22, 2018, the Ventura County Sheriff’s West County Street Narcotic Team, with the
assistance of the California National Guard Counter Drug Task Force concluded a month long
investigation into the narcotic trafficking activities of Juan Montez.
On June 22, 2018, Detectives detained and arrested Montez after he left a business in Ventura.
Montez was found to have approximately 4 ounces of methamphetamine in his possession as
well as paraphernalia indicative of narcotic sales in his vehicle. Detectives then executed two
signed search warrants at his residence in Ventura and a second location in Fillmore where
Montez stored an RV Motorhome. Additional evidence was seized along with a modified rifle
barrel which had been converted into a “one shot” firearm commonly known as a “Bang Stick”.
Montez was booked into the Ventura County Sheriff’s Pre-Trial Detention Facility on numerous
narcotic and weapon violations. He is currently out on $60,000.00 bail. His next court appearance
is scheduled for 07/06/2018 at 8:15 a.m. in Courtroom 12.
The West County Street Narcotics Team is comprised of narcotic detectives from the Ventura
County Sheriff’s Office, the Oxnard Police Department and the Port Hueneme Police Department.
