INCIDENT: Evading Resulting in Injury / DUI Resulting in Injury / Assault with a Deadly Weapon

LOCATION: Victoria Avenue and Lynwood Drive, San Bernardino

SUSPECT: Adrubal Pimentel, 29-years-old, a resident of Fontana

SUMMARY:
On Friday, June 29, 2018, at approximately 7:33 p.m., deputies from the Central Station attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop on a 2008 black Ford Focus driven by Adrubal Pimentel. Pimentel failed to yield and a pursuit ensued. Pimentel drove at speeds in excess of 100 mph as he attempted to evade deputies. During the pursuit, Pimentel entered the westbound lanes of the 210 freeway, made a U-turn and drove east.
As Pimentel drove the wrong way on the freeway, a collision occurred between Pimentel and a responding sheriff’s patrol vehicle. After the collision, Pimentel fled from his vehicle on foot. Pimentel was detained a short distance from his vehicle and taken into custody.

Pimentel was booked into the West Valley Detention Center and is being held in lieu of $250,000.00 bail for evading with Injury, DUI with injury and assault. Pimentel also had a no bail warrant for a Parole Violation.

The deputy involved suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. He has been released and is home recovering. Pimentel suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
