The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

June 28th

0713 Hours: Officer D. Johnson contacted and arrested a 63-year-old transient male for his outstanding warrants and for possession of a controlled substance on the 34700 block of Ardenwood Drive. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1156 Hours: Officer Herbert contacted and arrested a 25-year-old Newark female for her outstanding warrant during a probation search on the 6000 block of Amador Place. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.

1259 Hours: Officer D. Johnson contacted and arrested a 31-year-old Newark male for possession of burglary tools during a traffic stop on the 39000 block of Cedar Boulevard. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.

1412 Hours: Officer Khairy contacted and arrested an 18-year-old Newark male for possession of a controlled substance during a traffic stop on the 36600 block of Burdick Street. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.

1423 Hours: Officer Herbert arrested a 21-year-old Newark male for his outstanding warrant who self-surrendered in the Police Station lobby. The suspect was issued a citation and released from the station.

0219 Hours: Officer Palacio responded to a disturbance on the 5700 block of Thornton Avenue. Officer Palacio contacted and arrested a 34-year-old Newark male for disorderly conduct / being drunk in public. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

June 29th

0927 Hours: Officer Wilkerson responded to a suspicious vehicle call on 36100 block of Kiote Drive. Officer Wilkerson contacted and arrested a 42-year-old Hayward male for his outstanding warrant. The suspect was booked into the Fremont jail.

1955 Hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested a 37-year-old Hayward male for possession of marijuana for sale, probation violation and for providing false information to a Police Officer during a routine traffic stop on Thornton Avenue at Mayhews Landing Road. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

0010 Hours: Officer Pacheco contacted and arrested a 24-year-old Fremont male for public intoxication on the 35200 block of Newark Boulevard. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

0301 Hours: Officers responded to a solo vehicle collision on the 37100 block of Sycamore Street. A 33-year-old Cucamonga male was contacted and arrested for driving under the influence and subsequently booked into the Fremont Jail.

June 30th

0906 Hours: Officer Rivera contacted and arrested a 22-year-old Fremont male for his outstanding warrant during a routine traffic stop on the 39300 block of Cherry Street. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1031 Hours: Officer Rivera contacted and arrested a 62-year-old Turlock male for driving a vehicle with false registration on Cedar Boulevard at Hydrangea Way. The suspect was issued a citation and released. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

1035 Hours: Officer Palacio contacted and arrested a 32-year-old Newark male for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia during a pedestrian stop on the 6100 block of Jarvis Avenue. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.

1949 Hours: Officer Slavazza observed two subjects walking together who she knows have a restraining order preventing contact between the two. A 39-year-old Fremont male was arrested for violating the terms of the restraining order and was subsequently booked into the Fremont Jail.

2200 Hours: Officers investigated a solo vehicle non-injury crash on Spruce Street at Wells Avenue. A 25-year-old Fremont male was arrested for driving under the influence and booked into the Fremont Jail.

July 1st

0144 hours: Officers responded to assist a security guard who found a male subject sleeping in the women’s restroom of the Sycamore Bay Apartments Laundry Room. A 19-year-old Newark male was contacted and arrested for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

0813 Hours: Officer Wallace investigated the theft of wheels and tires from a vehicle on the 37900 block of Luma Terrace.

1011 Hours: Officer Damewood investigated the theft of power tools from Home Depot, 5401 Thornton Avenue.

1323 Hours: Officer Damewood investigated a vehicle vandalism case on the 6000 block of Joaquin Murieta Avenue.
