Details: On Monday, July 2, 2018 at 12:43 AM, CPD officers received multiple calls of illegal airborne fireworks being lit in the area of the 1100 block of Sherman Avenue. Officers were able to determine the illegal fireworks were being lit in front of a residence near the intersection of Norboe Avenue and Sherman Avenue. Officers contacted the resident, who was identified as Julio Cesar Castaneda. Castaneda was holding illegal fireworks and a lighter in his hands when he was contacted. Multiple boxes of illegal fireworks were also located in the open garage and back bed of a pickup truck parked at the residence. The illegal fireworks, worth approximately $1000.00, were confiscated and turned over to the Kings County Fire Department for safe disposal. Castaneda was arrested for possession of illegal fireworks without a permit, unlawful storage of illegal fireworks and illegal discharge of fireworks in city limits. Castaneda was cited to appear in court for the charges.
