...Dangerous heat will continue across the Mid-South through Sunday... ...EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT THIS EVENING... ...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM TO 8 PM CDT SUNDAY... The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued a Heat Advisory, which is in effect from 10 AM to 8 PM CDT Sunday.

* HEAT INDEX READINGS...Around 110 to 115 degrees during the afternoon and early evening hours on Saturday. Overnight conditions will remain very warm and humid. Heat index values will be near 105 degrees again on Sunday afternoon and early evening.

* TIMING...Through 8 PM.

* IMPACTS...The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will lead to an increased risk of heat-related stress and illness. The very young, the elderly, those without air conditioning, and those participating in strenuous outdoor activities will be the most susceptible. Also, car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

* AFFECTED AREAS: DUNKLIN ... PEMISCOT

A Heat Advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Take extra precautions, if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.
