Excessive Heat Warning until 08:00PM

...Dangerous Heat and Humidity Expected Today into Saturday... ...EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO 8 PM CDT THIS EVENING... ...HEAT ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM THIS EVENING TO 8 PM CDT SATURDAY... The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued an Excessive Heat Warning, which is in effect from 10 AM this morning to 8 PM CDT this evening.

* TEMPERATURE...High temperatures in the mid 90s with peak heat index readings above 110 are forecast today. On Saturday, highs in the lower to mid 90s with peak heat index values of 105 to 110 are expected.

* IMPACTS...The combination of heat and humidity will lead to an increased risk of heat-related stress and illness. The very young, the elderly, those without air conditioning, and those participating in strenuous outdoor activities will be the most susceptible. Also, car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

* AFFECTED AREAS: ALEXANDER ... EDWARDS ... FRANKLIN ... GALLATIN ... HAMILTON ... HARDIN ... JACKSON ... JEFFERSON ... JOHNSON ... MASSAC ... PERRY ... POPE ... PULASKI ... SALINE ... UNION ... WABASH ... WAYNE ... WHITE ... WILLIAMSON

Instructions:

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water. Take frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Heat stroke is an emergency. Call 9 1 1 for anyone showing symptoms.
