Incident: Man arrested for Endangering the Welfare of a Child
 
Location: 26 Hancock Street, Islandia
 
Date/Time: June 28, 2018
 
Suffolk County Police today arrested a Central Islip High School teacher for endangering the welfare of two 16-year-old female students.
 
Jairo Inswasty, 70, of 26 Hancock Street, Islandia, was arrested today by Special Victims Section detectives and charged with two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. An investigation by the Special Victims Section revealed that Inswasty, who teaches math, had an inappropriate relationship with the victims. Both victims were his students at the time.
 
Inswasty will be arraigned at a later date.
 
The incident continues to be an ongoing investigation and additional information will be forthcoming.
 
Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the Special Victims Section at 631-852-6531or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
