On June 21, 2018, investigators from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Interagency Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit (PCU) assisted by the Sheriff’s Gang Unit (SGU) concluded a two-week long narcotic investigation into Christopher Delapp. Delapp was suspected of selling heroin and methamphetamine to residents of Ventura. Delapp also had a felony warrant for a previous controlled substance sales case. Detectives located and arrested Delapp for the felony arrest warrant in the parking lot of the Ventura Beach House Motel on Thompson Blvd. in the city of Ventura. Delapp was also found to be in possession of a large amount of methamphetamine, heroin, marijuana and U.S. currency deemed to be illegal proceeds from narcotics sales. Delapp was additionally arrested for fresh charges of 11351 HS – possession for sale of heroin, 11378 HS – possession for sale of methamphetamine and 11360 – possession of marijuana for sale. Once Delapp was arrested, the investigation led to a motel room at the motel where five additional subjects were located and detained. All five individuals were arrested for the following charges: Mitchell Joyce was arrested for 29800(a)(1) PC – felon in possession of a firearm and 33210 PC – possession of a short barreled shotgun. Upon completion, this case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review and filing considerations. The Ventura County Interagency Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit is a task force made up of members from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, Thousand Oaks Police Department, the California Highway Patrol, the Simi Valley Police Department, and the Ventura Police Department. The primary mission of the task force is combatting the transfer of legal prescription medication to the illegal market.
