The National Weather Service in St Louis has issued a

* Flood Advisory for... Clinton County in south central Illinois... Southern Bond County in south central Illinois... Eastern Monroe County in southwestern Illinois... Washington County in south central Illinois... Southern Madison County in southwestern Illinois... Marion County in south central Illinois... Southern Fayette County in south central Illinois... St. Clair County in southwestern Illinois...

* Until 945 PM CDT.

* At 647 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include... St. Louis, Belleville, Granite City, O`Fallon, East St. Louis, Collinsville, Edwardsville, Fairview Heights, Cahokia, Swansea, Centralia, Glen Carbon, Shiloh, Highland, Troy, Columbia, Maryville, Salem, Mascoutah and Greenville. This includes the following highways... Interstate 70 in Illinois between exits 21 and 41. Interstate 55 in Illinois near exit 23. Interstate 57 in Illinois between exits 109 and 135. Interstate 64 in Illinois between exits 9 and 61. This also includes Carlyle Lake Recreational Area and Horseshoe Lake State Park.

Instructions:

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
