4th of July Holiday

The Corcoran Police Department hopes everyone has a fun and SAFE 4th of July. We would like to remind you to light only safe and sane fireworks and always have an adult present when lighting fireworks. Every year U.S. hospital emergency rooms treat thousands of firework injuries, often leaving permanent damage to eyes, hands and face. Over 50% of all fireworks injuries occur with people under the age of 20 years old. The Corcoran Police Department will have extra officers on patrol during the 4th of July and will proactively seek those who are lighting ILLEGAL fireworks. Illegal fireworks pose a significant fire danger and are substantially more dangerous than their safe and sane counterparts. We ask everyone to be responsible with their fireworks during this time of celebration.
Additionally, the Corcoran Police Department would like to remind everyone that the sight and sound of fireworks during the 4th of July can be very frightening to animals and cause them to react in peculiar ways. Animals will often escape yards, houses and other areas that they normally do not escape from due to the fear the fireworks create. Please make sure all of your animals are in a safe and secure environment and make sure they have proper identification on them in the event they do escape.
We wish everyone a Happy and Safe 4th of July!!!
