Advisory

CMPD has seized 1,300 lbs of illegal fireworks

In the last two weeks, CMPD has seized 1,300 pounds of illegal fireworks. There are stands around Costa Mesa that will start selling fireworks on June 30 with the Safe & Sane logo on them. Those are deemed safe to use, which is a good way to celebrate 4th of July. To deter the sale, purchase, and use of illegal and harmful fireworks, we will continue to confiscate illegal fireworks through the 4th of July.

The City of Costa Mesa is a zero-tolerance city. Selling illegal fireworks is a felony, and possession/use of illegal fireworks is a misdemeanor punishable by up to $1000 fine and/or jail time.

To report illegal fireworks, call our non-emergency at 714-754-5252.
