The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
June 27th
1001 Hours: Officer Damewood contacted and arrested a 49-year-old Fremont male for his outstanding warrant while performing a security check of the homeless encampment on the 34700 block of Ardenwood Boulevard. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
1004 Hours: Officer R. Johnson contacted and arrested a 34-year-old San Jose male for possessing marijuana for sales, driving on a suspended license, speeding and no proof of insurance during a traffic stop on Mowry Avenue. The suspect was issued a citation and released. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
1234 Hours: Officer R. Johnson investigated a non-injury auto accident on Mowry Avenue at Rockrose Avenue.
1513 Hours: Community Service Officer Verandes seized the license plate off a vehicle for false registration on Timber Street. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
2108 Hours: Sergeant Heckman contacted and arrested a 47-year-old transient male for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia on the 7400 block of Mowry Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
