Advisory

Felony OWI 5th Offense

On June 27, 2018 at 1:04 AM, an officer with the Middleton Police Department was on routine patrol when he observed a vehicle fail to yield at a four-way stop sign intersection.  The vehicle nearly struck the officer’s squad as it entered the intersection without yielding.

The driver was identified as Sergio R. Reyes, 26, of Madison.  The officer noted a strong odor of intoxicants coming from Reyes’ breath and his speech was slurred.

Following field sobriety testing, Reyes was arrested for 5th offense operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, a felony.  Reyes refused to provide a sample of his blood, so a search warrant was obtained.  The blood sample will be sent to the Wisconsin State Crime Lab for analysis.

Reyes was booked into the Dane County Jail for the felony OWI and was also ticketed for failure to yield.
