NWS has issued a Flood Advisory for Old Fort, Glenwood, Sugar Hill, Dysartsville, until 7:45 pm. Click link for info.

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
Southern McDowell County in western North Carolina...

* Until 745 PM EDT.

* At 441 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a second round of heavy
rainfall occurring over the southern and southeastern parts of
McDowell County where an earlier round of heavy rainfall occurred.
Total rainfall accumulations of 1-3 inches have occurred and an
additional 1-2 is possible over the next 60 minutes. Therefore,
the new rainfall is occurring over saturated soils and isolated
minor flooding may be imminent across the advisory area.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include...
Old Fort, Sugar Hill, Glenwood, Fero, Dysartsville and Thermal
City.

* The following streams and their associated tributaries are rising
rapidly and flooding of adjacent low-lying areas is possible:
Second Broad River near Fero down to the Rutherford County line,
Cove Creek near Sugar Hill, and Crooked Creek near the Catawba
River confluence.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Heavy rainfall will cause rapid rises on small creeks and streams,
possibly flooding low water crossings and farmland. Do not attempt to
travel across flooded roads. Turn around, dont drown.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Turn around, dont drown.
