#LASD Always Ready to Partner up for a Great Cause, #PinkPatchProject 2018

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is honored to once again partner with Los Angeles County Police Chiefs’ Association (LACPCA), and over 300 participating law enforcement agencies nationwide, to raise money and help support the efforts to bring public awareness about early detection and treatment for breast cancer through the innovative “Pink Patch Project” campaign.

Breast Cancer touches many of our lives, about 1 in 8 U.S. women will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime, causing a profound impact on the patient, her family, and friends.

The 2018 LASD Pink Patch along with other LASD Pink Patch products will be available for sale through www.lasdpinkpatchproject.com.  The patch is available for $10.00.  Last year alone, LASD collected $45,000 to help increase public awareness.  The money was provided to the City of Hope (COH) for breast cancer education, treatment, and research.

WHAT IS THE #PINKPATCHPROJECT?

The #PinkPatchProject is a collaborative effort between the LACPCA and public safety agencies across the nation. These agencies have partnered together in the #PinkPatchProject to combat breast cancer by raising public awareness and by raising funds for breast cancer education, research and treatment.

The program centers on vibrant pink versions of the public safety employee's uniform patch. These bright pink patches are specially designed by each participating agency specifically for the #PinkPatchProject campaign, with some authorized to be worn on service uniforms.

October is “Breast Cancer Awareness Month” and the pink patches are intended to stimulate conversations with the community and encourage discussion with the public about the importance of early detection and treatment in the fight against this disease.
