INCIDENT: Deal Officers Involved in 2 vehicle pursuits of stolen vehicles

OFFICERS INVOLVED: Sgt Nick Vaccaro, Ptl Joe Ammaturo, Ptl Jeff Kless

NARRATIVE:

On June 21, 2018 at approximately 0300 hours Ptl Jeff Kless was on routine patrol in the Borough of Deal when he attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Poplar and Almyr Ave. The vehicle, a black 4 door BMW, immediately fled the area at a high rate of speed and a vehicle pursuit was initiated. A plate inquiry was conducted and the vehicle was reported stolen out of Freehold on June 18th. Ptl Kless and Sgt Vaccaro pursed the vehicle through several streets and eventually Sgt Vaccaro terminated the pursuit in the area of Deal Road and State Highway 35 in Ocean Township due to the high rate of speed.

At approximately 4:00am Sgt Vaccaro observed suspicious activity in the area of Parker Ave and Norwood in the Borough of Deal. Sgt Vaccaro attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop on a dark colored Range Rover and the vehicle subsequently fled the area at a high rate of speed and a second vehicle pursuit was initiated. Sgt Vaccaro and Ptl Kless pursued the vehicle to the intersection of Route 35 and Route 36 in the Borough of Eatontown when Sgt Vaccaro terminated the pursuit due to the high rate of speed. A similar vehicle was reported stolen out of Oceanport last night.

Residents are reminded that high end vehicles are being targeted by a theft ring operating in Monmouth County. Please lock your vehicles and remove the keys/key fobs from the vehicles! As always report any suspicious activity to the Deal Police Department immediately.
