Flash Flood Watch until 05:00PM Wednesday

...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON FOR MUCH OF SOUTH TEXAS... .Plentiful tropical moisture due to a mid level and surface trough over the area will produce areas of heavy rainfall. Persistent heavy rainfall for the next two days will likely produce areas of flooding, mainly over the eastern portions of South Texas. Depending on how long the tropical moisture lingers over the area, the Flash Flood Watch may need to be extended beyond Wednesday afternoon, or extended farther west. ...FLASH FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON... The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* A portion of south Texas, including the following areas, Aransas Islands, Bee, Calhoun Islands, Coastal Aransas, Coastal Calhoun, Coastal Kleberg, Coastal Nueces, Coastal Refugio, Coastal San Patricio, Goliad, Inland Calhoun, Inland Kleberg, Inland Nueces, Inland Refugio, Inland San Patricio, Jim Wells, Kleberg Islands, Live Oak, Nueces Islands, and Victoria.

* Through Wednesday afternoon

* Persistent heavy rainfall due to tropical moisture will result in flash flooding over the watch area. Rainfall rates of 3 inches per hour or higher will likely cause water to accumulate over some areas. Rainfall amounts will average around or in excess of 10 inches over the coastal areas, especially over the Northeastern Coastal Bend.

* Rainfall amounts will average from 7 to 11 inches over areas near and east of a Corpus Christi to Sinton to Beeville line, with the highest amounts over portions of Aransas, Refugio, Calhoun and Southern Victoria Counties. Locally higher amounts can be expected, as with any heavy rainfall event. Average amounts of 3 to 7 inches are expected over the western portions of the watch area, with again locally higher amounts.
