Fairfield PD Hosts Roundtable Meeting on Homeless

The Fairfield Police Department hosted a roundtable meeting Monday morning to bring together government agencies and service providers, facilitating a conversation on homelessness.  Over 40 representatives from a multitude of city, county, state and federal agencies, along with local non-profits and service providers were present.
The purpose of the meeting was to get the various stakeholders surrounding homelessness together and initiate dialogue and see how best to serve people in our community experiencing homelessness, and understand the roles the various agencies play in delivering services.  They discussed the many hurdles people experience when trying to overcome homelessness.
The Fairfield Police Department understands that no single agency can cure homelessness, but collaboration with all agencies involved in helping can make a huge difference.  Monday’s meeting was part of the ongoing effort of FFPD’s Homeless Intervention Team to assist individuals experiencing chronic homelessness to get out of their current situation and into long term housing.
