The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

June 14th

1457 Hours: Officer Herbert recovered a Chrysler Town & Country Van on the 6400 block of Montcalm Avenue that was reported stolen out of Newark on June 10th.

1555 Hours: Officer Wilkerson investigated the theft of a white, 2009 GMC Sierra pick-up (CA License #8Z62531) on the 5400 block of Thornton Avenue.

1637 Hours: Officer San Pedro investigated the theft of a white, 2001 GMC van (CA License #59340D1) on the 5400 block of Thornton Avenue.

June 15th

0657 Hours: Officer San Pedro investigated an auto burglary at the Comfort Inn, 5977 Mowry Avenue. The loss is miscellaneous tools.

0700 Hours: Officer Wallace investigated an auto burglary at Chase Suites, 39150 Cedar Boulevard. The loss is miscellaneous tools.

1320 Hours: Officer Wang investigated an auto burglary in the Home Depot parking lot, 5401 Thornton Avenue. The loss is miscellaneous tools.

1950 Hours: Officer Slavazza responded to a disturbance on the 6200 block of Mayhews Landing Road. A 46-year-old Newark male was contacted and arrested for probation violation, possession of drug paraphernalia and for violation of a restraining order. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

2039 Hours: Officer Taylor investigated an auto burglary at B.J.’s Restaurant & Brewhouse 5699 Mowry Avenue. The loss is a laptop computer.

June 16th

1618 Hours: Officer Herbert investigated a vandalism incident at Game Stop, 5885 Newark Boulevard. The investigation is ongoing.

1956 Hours: Officer Taylor responded to a single vehicle accident on the 37100 block of St. Luke Court. The driver, a 21-year-old Newark male was arrested for driving under the influence and subsequently booked into the Fremont Jail.

2205 Hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested a 38-year-old Newark male for driving under the influence and probation violation during a traffic stop on Cedar Boulevard at Lafayette Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

2247 Hours: Officer Rivera responded to a disturbance on the 35400 block of Dumbarton Court. An unidentified female was contacted and arrested for public intoxication and booked into the Fremont Jail.

2352 Hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested a 34-year-old El Sobrante male for his outstanding warrant during a traffic stop on Stevenson Boulevard. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.

0135 Hours: Officers responded to Pic N Pull, 7400 Mowry Avenue for a report of two subjects trespassing in the secure yard. Officers Taylor, Piquette, Ackerman and Sergeant Heckman searched the yard and located a 32-year-old male and a 25-year-old male, both from Fremont hiding in vehicles. Officer Taylor accepted the citizen’s arrest for both subjects who were then booked for trespassing into the Fremont Jail.

June 17th

0845 Hours: Officer Nobbe responded to a disturbance on the 6200 block of Wilma Avenue. A 26-year-old Concord female was arrested for assault and subsequently booked into the Fremont Jail.

1206 Hours: Officer Wallace investigated a vehicle burglary at the Double Tree Hotel, 39900 Balentine Drive. The loss is a purse containing credit cards and personal Identification.

1631 Hours: Officer Wallace contacted and arrested a 36-year-old transient male for his outstanding warrant while performing a security check at Home Depot, 5401 Thornton Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

2108 Hours: Officer San Pedro investigated an auto burglary at John’s Incredible Pizza, NewPark mall. The loss is a purse.

2342 Hours: Officer Musantry contacted and arrested a 26-year-old transient male for public intoxication on Cherry Street at Baine Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.
