Coastal Flood Advisory until 12:00PM Tuesday

...HIGH RISK OF RIP CURRENTS ALONG GULF-FACING BEACHES THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING... ...MINOR COASTAL FLOODING EXPECTED SOUTH OF PORT ARANSAS THROUGH NOON TUESDAY... .Increasing swells with long periods along with moderate southeast winds and confused seas from thunderstorms offshore will provide a high risk of rip currents for Gulf-facing beaches along the Middle Texas coast tonight through Tuesday evening. In addition, the combination of moderate onshore flow and increasing swells will produce higher than normal wave runup along the beaches of south of Port Aransas. At the time of high tide, isolated areas along the narrower portions of these beaches may experience minor coastal flooding making driving difficult to impossible. ...COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CDT TUESDAY... ...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING... The National Weather Service in Corpus Christi has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory, which is in effect until noon CDT Tuesday.

* COASTAL FLOODING...Minor tidal overflow due to swells and associated wave runup may be possible with water reaching the dunes in some places, especially during times of high tide.

* Timing...Today through Noon Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Driving conditions may be impacted. Items along the beach may need to be removed due to the incoming wave runup. Strong rip currents are expected along gulf-facing beaches. These rip currents can be life-threatening to anyone entering the surf, especially near piers and jetties.

* AFFECTED AREAS: KLEBERG ISLANDS ... NUECES ISLANDS

Instructions:

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don`t swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help. A Coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
