Advisory

UPDATE (name correction): Suspect on Regency Drive in Eagle River taken into custody.

Name Correction:  The suspect's last name is Fredrickrock.

UPDATE:  At 11:52 PM 37-year-old James Fredrickrock was taken into custody; he is being charged with three counts of Assault III.

During the standoff with patrol officers and SWAT, Frederickson stated multiple times that he wanted to die by “suicide by cop” and told officers several times to “just shoot him.”  Negotiators attempted to talk Frederickson down but Frederickson refused to comply with commands.  Eventually Frederickson put the weapon down at which time officers used the opportunity to deploy less-lethal tactics to include the Taser and a K9.  Frederickson was then taken into custody.  He will be medically cleared for the K9 bite before being transported to jail.  No one else was injured.

APD is thankful for the cooperation of neighborhood residents while officers worked the scene.
