San Mateo, CA — On behalf of Pacific Gas and Electric Company, the City of San Mateo would like to alert residents and commuters of an upcoming construction project and potential traffic impacts along Amphlett Boulevard.

PG&E is replacing approximately 1.7 miles of an aged gas main along Amphlett Boulevard from approximately Peninsula Avenue to Folkstone Avenue. Construction schedule is subject to change, but is anticipated to last from mid-June through the end of September, 2018.

When driving through this area, please slow down and be sure to read and follow all traffic signs. Please plan for delays and possible detours onto Humboldt Street.

This construction is part of the utility’s ongoing efforts to upgrade aging infrastructure throughout its service area.

The project will be conducted in phases and includes various road closures, lane closures and elimination of parking along portions of Amphlett Boulevard. Attached are maps of construction-related impacts for Phase 1, which is roughly estimated to last from mid-June to mid-July, 2018.

During construction, most of the road will remain open to local traffic to accommodate residents and businesses. The Highway 101 on- and off-ramps at Poplar Avenue and Third/Fourth avenues will remain open.
PG&E’s contractor will be on site conducting surveys this week, with construction anticipated to begin Monday, June, 18^th. Hours of construction are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
