Detectives arrest two Santa Rosa men with drugs, weapons

On June 13, 2018, Sonoma County Sheriff’s Property and Narcotics detectives served a search warrant in the 6000 block of St. Helena Road, Santa Rosa as part of a methamphetamine trafficking investigation.

Consistent with the search warrant, detectives searched certain buildings and vehicles on the property.  They found 0.75 pounds of cocaine, 1.5 pounds of methamphetamine, approximately 32 pounds of packaged marijuana, 245 pounds of partially processed marijuana, over $6,000 in cash, and packaging materials.  They also found six firearms: an illegal AK-47 style assault rifle with high capacity magazines, two rifles, and three handguns with loaded magazines.  While all guns except the AK-47 are legal in California, it is illegal to possess them while also possessing illegal drugs.

Detectives arrested the two men who live there.  Sergio Cruz, 49, of Santa Rosa, was arrested on possession of a controlled substance while armed, possession of an assault weapon, and possession of marijuana for sale.  Miguel Angel Rivera-Garcia, 35, of Santa Rosa, was arrested for possessing cocaine and methamphetamine for sale.

Both suspects were booked into the main County jail.  Cruz posted his $10,000 bail and was released. Rivera-Garcia remains in custody on $250,000 bail.
