Advisory

Suspect Arrested in Theft from Vehicle

Today, at 12:05 p.m., Moraga Police received a call of a female breaking into a vehicle in the 200 block of Rheem Blvd. Officers responded and located the suspect, dressed in grey, hiding in the concrete drainage on the side of the road, about 100 yards away. The suspect was later identified by witnesses at the scene.

It was determined that the suspect, identified as Casey Brooks, 21, of Hayward, had reached through the open vehicle window and removed items from the vehicle. When confronted by the victim, Brooks returned the items that she had taken. Brooks was later cited and released for petty theft and released.

This is a good reminder for everyone to ensure your car windows are rolled up and doors locked when your vehicle is parked...even in your driveway. Valuables should not be left in your vehicle or should be hidden out of view before you arrive at your destination. Additionally, please report suspicious persons to the police and be able to tell the dispatcher why you think the person is suspicious.
