*UPDATE* #LASD Detectives Asst West Covina PD w/ Officer-Involved Shooting Investigation, 1300 SandyHook Av, LaPuente
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau detectives are continuing to assisting West Covina Police Department with an officer-involved investigation. The incident occurred Tuesday, June 11, 2018, at approximately, 11:30 p.m., on the 1300 block of Sandy Hook Avenue, La Puente.
While a West Covina Police Officer was on patrol, he heard a robbery just occurred call on the radio for a neighboring jurisdiction. While attempting to locate a possible suspect, he noticed an older model Honda driving at a high rate of speed. The officer believed that vehicle may have been involved in the robbery. He attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The suspect vehicle failed to yield, at which time a vehicle pursuit ensued.
The pursuit lasted approximately 60 seconds, when the suspect vehicle crashed into the center median on Hacienda Boulevard, east of Maplegrove Street.
After the traffic collision, the suspect ran from the vehicle. The officer followed him in his patrol vehicle, at which time the officer attempted to detain the suspect on the 1300 block of Sandy Hook Avenue. During the attempt detention, the officer-involved shooting occurred.
The male Hispanic adult suspect was stuck once, with a non-life threatening wound to his upper torso. He was transported to a local hospital to be medically treated.
It was discovered that this suspect was not involved in the original robbery call in a neighboring jurisdiction. He was, however, driving a stolen vehicle.
There are no other reported injuries.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide detectives are assisting West Covina Police Department with an Officer Involved Shooting investigation. The incident occurred on Monday, June 11, 2018, at approximately 11:07 p.m., on the 1300 block of Sandy Hook Avenue, La Puente.
The suspect was struck by gunfire and transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.
