Torrance Patrol Officers Arrest a Subject with a “Molotov Cocktail”

On Saturday, June 9, 2018, at approximately 11:12 p.m., patrol officers contacted a subject on a bicycle for traffic violations in the area of 186th Street and Burin Avenue.  During the contact, officers discovered the subject was on parole for Criminal Threats and on felony probation for Vandalism.
 
During the investigation, the subject was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine as well as a destructive device determined to be a “Molotov Cocktail.” 
 
The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad responded to take custody of the device.  At the conclusion of the investigation, Patrol Officers arrested the subject for Possession of a Destructive Device and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
 
 
This preliminary investigation was conducted under the command of Torrance Police Captain Mark Underwood of the Patrol Bureau.  Investigative follow-up will be conducted under the command of Torrance Captain Martin Vukotic of the Special Operations Bureau.
