Suspect facing multiple charges from one-man crime spree

Lt. Andy Manis and Detective Billie Brown of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Carroll Cleveland Howard, 45, of 31 5th St. in Marion, with six counts each of breaking and entering and larceny after breaking and entering, three counts of possession of stolen goods, two counts of damage to property and one count of larceny.
Howard went on a crime spree in Marion and Nebo in late March to early April.
-- On March 28, Keith Fairchild, of Walnut Grove Road in Nebo, reported that someone broke into a workshop on his property, caused $500 damage to a door and stole $1,750 worth of power and hand tools.
-- Joshua Cagle, of Marion, reported on April 4 that someone removed three trail cameras, valued at $250, from woods on Moodytown Road.
-- On April 9, Kathleen Toney report that someone broke into an outbuilding on her property on Burma Road East in Nebo and took $700 worth of power and hand tools.
-- Samuel Frady Jr., of Beechnut Drive in Marion, reported on April 9 that someone forced their way into his outbuilding, caused $200 worth of damage to the door and stole a $350 weed trimmer.
-- On April 9, Scott Revis reported that someone broke into his outbuilding on Fairview Road in Marion and removed $355 worth of power and hand tools.
-- James Deyton, of Jacktown Road in Marion, reported on March 18 that someone forced their way into his outbuilding and took two chainsaws, two weed trimmers and power and hand tools worth $2,613.
-- On April 18, Samuel Alexander, of Burleson Road in Marion, reported that someone stole $850 worth of power and hand tools from his outbuilding.
A few of the victims are acquainted with Howard, which eventually led to his arrest.
Some of the property has been recovered.
