The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for... Vermilion County in east central Illinois...
* Until 615 PM CDT
* At 312 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the warned area. Up to three inches of rain have already fallen. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Danville, Hoopeston, Westville, Tilton, Catlin, Oakwood, Rossville, Potomac, Rankin, Fithian, Belgium, Muncie, Bismarck, Henning, Collison, Vermilion County Airport, Middle Fork Wildlife Area, Armstrong, Alvin and Kickapoo State Park. This includes Interstate 74 between mile markers 200 and 220.
* AFFECTED AREAS: VERMILION
Instructions:
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
