*Update* #LASD Homicide Dets Respond 1100 Blk E. Artesia Blvd., Compton to Investigate Shooting Death of Man
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a man that occurred at approximately 6:50pm on Saturday, June 9, 2018, near the 1100 block of East Artesia Boulevard, Compton.
Homicide detectives have learned that deputies from the Compton Sheriff’s Station responded to the 2100 block of South Santa Fe Avenue, Compton, regarding a “hit and run” traffic collision call. While deputies were responding, the call was updated to a “gunshot victim” call.
When deputies arrived they were directed to an area located just inside the property at Compton Community College located at 1111 East Artesia Boulevard, Compton, where they found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics.
Upon further investigation, Homicide detectives believe the incident, which began near the 2100 block of South Santa Fe Avenue was the result of a “road rage” confrontation. They believe the victim, who was chased by the suspect, climbed over the fence and on to the community college property where he was shot by the suspect.
There is no suspect description. The murder weapon has not been recovered.
There is no further information at this time.
