Pedestrian struck in traffic collision earlier today on Palmdale Rd/ Delgado Rd remains in the hospital being treated

LOCATION: Palmdale Road / Delgado Road
VICTIM: Pedestrian - 17 year old male (remains in the hospital)
SUMMARY:
On Saturday, June 09, 2018, at approximately 12:08 pm, deputies from the Victorville Station, rescue personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department and American Medical Response responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision near the intersection of Palmdale Road and Delgado Road in the city of Victorville. Deputies determined that a white Toyota Scion was driving east on Palmdale Road in the number two lane. A group of pedestrians were walking on the eastbound shoulder of Palmdale Road. For unknown reasons, the driver of the Toyota veered to the right onto the shoulder and struck one of the pedestrians.
The pedestrian suffered major head trauma. The pedestrian was transported by American Medical Response personnel with head trauma and remains in the hospital being treated for his injuries. The driver of the Toyota was uninjured. The driver of the Toyota remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
The Victorville City Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is continuing the investigation of the collision. Palmdale Road, remained closed in both directions for several hours while investigators processed the scene for evidence and interviewed witnesses. Palmdale Road was reopened in both directions at approximately 5:42 pm.
