Community Advisory: Access to the San Mateo County Fair & Traffic Impacts due to Construction

The San Mateo County Fair is here! The 84th annual fair hosted at the San Mateo County Event Center runs Saturday, June 9th through Sunday, June 17th.

This year we urge the community to consider taking alternative means of transportation to the fair and to expect possible traffic delays in the area. There may also be traffic impacts due to ongoing construction related to the nearby 25th Avenue Grade Separation Project and the replacement of a PG&E gas main along South Delaware Street in the Bay Meadows area.

There will be no construction during weekends of the fair.
Bicyclist and pedestrian access from the Hillsdale Caltrain station will be maintained throughout the nine-day fair. PG&E traffic control flaggers will safely direct pedestrians from the Hillsdale station to the entrance of the fairgrounds, with a slight detour during weekdays of the fair. Transit riders can also use the Hayward Park Caltrain Station or SamTrans.

If you plan on driving, all vehicular access to the fair will remain open during the weekends. However, Delaware Street just south of 25th Avenue will be closed to cars during the weekdays. PG&E crews will work Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. PG&E will clearly mark all work areas and flaggers will help direct traffic. Please plan for traffic delays and detours when driving through this area.
Businesses on Delaware Street and 25th Avenue will be open as usual.

As Caltrain and PG&E continue construction, we ask you to stay informed of rolling street closures and detours by signing up for Caltrain’s weekly project updates at: www.caltrain.com/25thgs.
Being aware of road closures in advance will help reduce traffic delays while maintaining the overall safety of motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians. We want our community to stay safe and enjoy this annual family-friendly event!
