Fatal Traffic Collision Incident # 180026185 June 8, 2018

On June 7, 2018, at approximately 12:11 pm, officers from the Torrance Police Department responded to a major injury solo vehicle traffic collision involving a motorcyclist on Prairie Avenue, north of Artesia Boulevard.    On arrival, officers discovered that a blue 2017, Yamaha motorcycle, ridden by a 30-year-old male, travelling southbound in the 17200 block of Prairie Avenue had collided with the center median for an unknown reason. The 30-year-old male sustained major injuries and was treated by Torrance Fire Department personnel at the scene and transported to a local hospital, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
 
Prairie Avenue was closed in both directions between Redondo Beach Boulevard and Artesia Boulevard for approximately four hours during the course of the investigation.
 
This collision is being investigated by the Torrance Police Department’s Traffic Division under the command of Captain Martin Vukotic, Commander of the Special Operations Bureau.  Anyone with information regarding this collision is encouraged to contact the Torrance Police Department’s Traffic Division at (310) 618-5557.
