The following crimes were reported in the Castaic/ Val Verde area during the week of May 21, 2018 - May 27, 2018:

5/22/18 

Grand Theft Auto, Theft from Vehicle- 28000 block of Cascade Road
The victim reported one of their vehicles was broken into in the early morning hours of 5/22/18 and a garage door opener was stolen. On 5/23/18 the victim's 2004 Tacoma truck was stolen from the driveway. The vehicle was stolen in the early morning hours. 
 

5/22/18 

Theft from Vehicle- 28000 block of Cascade Road
The victim reported miscellaneous items stolen from their unlocked vehicle. The crime occurred in the early morning hours. 
 

5/22/18 

Theft-31000 block of Castaic Road
The business owner reported two separate employees stole lottery tickets and cash during their shift. The crime was caught on the surveillance camera. 
 

5/23/18 

Theft- 28000 block of Minaret Court
The victim woke up in the early morning to the sound of his dogs barking. When he looked in his front yard he saw a male adult run from his vehicle and get into a gold sedan and drive away. The victim checked his vehicle and noticed his garage door opener missing. The crime occurred in the early morning hours. 
 

5/25/18 

Grand Theft- 31000 block of San Martinez 
The victim reported $1,700 in US currency and several thousand dollars’ worth of tools stolen from his property while he was in jail. The victim believes the suspects are all acquaintances of his that were aware he was gone. 
 

5/26/18 

Theft- 31000 block of Castaic Road. 

The victim reported the window to his vehicle shattered and its contents rummaged through. The car was parked in the business parking lot. The crime occurred in the early morning hours. 

Remember, in any community, the citizens are the first set of eyes and ears for 1st responders.  It is the community who knows what “does” and “doesn’t” look right.  It is you, the local citizens, who can tell who “does” and “doesn’t” belong in the area.  If you see any suspicious activity, something that doesn’t look “right”, please call the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at (661) 255-1121 or 9-1-1 in an emergency. 

Please be aware that many of the thefts we have seen in the past have been “Crimes of Opportunity”.  Never leave valuables in plain view in your vehicle, close and lock your doors.  Minimize your risk of becoming a victim.
