Probationer Arrested for Gun & Drug Possession

On June 6th at about 5:39 pm, a patrol officer was patrolling the area surrounding Willard Park.  The patrol officer (as well as the other officers familiar with the area) know that it sometimes has reports from residents about persons trespassing or lingering in and around properties to do drugs, consume alcohol, or other things that negatively affect the quality of life in the neighborhood.

While driving on Regent Street (near the intersection with Derby Street), the patrol officer saw a man sitting in an SUV with the window rolled down.  As the patrol officer drove passed the SUV, he recognized the driver—a known probationer.  Curious about the activities of the probationer, the patrol officer drove around the block to contact the man in his SUV.

While contacting the man under the terms of his probation, the patrol officer surprisingly discovered several thousand dollars in his pants.  With the assistance of other officers, the patrol officer continued his search and found a loaded .45 caliber handgun in the vehicle as well as a large quantity of powdered cocaine in addition to other items commonly used in drug sales.

As a result of what he found, the patrol officer arrested the man (Terry Chantino Beasley, Male, 38, Alameda, CA) for possession of narcotics for sale, carrying a loaded and concealed firearm, possession of controlled substances while armed with a loaded firearm, violating his probation as well as some other gun related charges.

The men and woman of the Berkeley Police Department take great pride in keeping our neighborhoods safe and we are pleased to have been able to make them safer by the arrest of a person selling drugs in our community.
