“Where in the City is the JPD Bike Officer?”

The Janesville Police Department is excited to announce a summer initiative designed to promote kid’s health by encouraging them to engage in outdoor activities this summer while at the same time building community relations through positive police interactions.

The program is called “Where in the city is the JPD bike officer?”

How does it work?

• Each week throughout the summer, the Janesville Police Department will send out a public notification giving clues to where the JPD bike officer can be located within the city and the one hour time period they will be there that day. A special password will also be provided.
• The first 25 kids that are able to locate the bike officer during the designated time, and who provide the correct password, will receive an immediate prize such as movie tickets, free pizza certificates, pool passes, etc. Kids are encouraged to ride their bikes or walk to the locations if possible, which will be strategically picked for accessibility.
• All kids who find the officer within the hour, and who give the correct password, will be entered into an end of summer drawing giving them a chance at winning one of two new bikes, a video gaming system, or a fishing rod and reel!
• “Where in the city is the JPD bike officer” is scheduled to begin the week of June 11th and will run through the end of August 2018. The end of summer drawing will take place after the last week of the program. The exact date is to be determined.

Who is eligible?

• All kids between the ages of 5-15 years old.
